Art Doldrums

I came across this from an artist I admire.

He makes some decent points. Nothing groundbreaking, but hopefully reassuring.

  1. Interesting work, his stuff looks a little like John K. the creator of Ren & Stimpy. There have been variations on his advice and I've given a ton of it myself.

Some of the best advice I've ever heard came from Robert Weaver, an illustrator. He was talking to a person who was upset for many of the reasons listed in that blog. He was quite wise and proffered this advice, which I've always remembered. "Art is not a sport or a race, it does not favor youth and in so long as you're being conscientious and doing the best you're able, then be happy; for you are in exactly the same mind-space and practice of the artists you admire."
